Volcanicast for the Week Ending 2009/10/30
Volcanicast November 3rd, 2009
In this week’s Volcanicast, we discuss slang words for ‘vagina’ like ‘quim’ and ‘taco’; San Francisco’s other, less photogenic bridge; and just what the full moon does to Bill O’Reilly… Just to name a few.
SHOW NOTES
Note: Topics in ITALICS were not researched and any notes following them are dubious at best and outright wrong at worst.

4. cwm (WES)
- Slang for “Vagina”
- - Used mostly in letters to Hustler in the 80’s.
- - - At least, in my experience.
- Oh, that’s “quim“
- - This is “cwm“
- - - Which is actually more correctly pronounced “coom“
- - - It’s Welsh (if you couldn’t guess) for Valley.
- Interestingly, Wikitionary lists Quim as slang most likely started as a mispronunciation of cwm.
- - So my joke (the only reason I took the topic) is apt and educational.
- Why now?
- - I don’t know.
- - Based on the related search terms of syzygy and psst, I’m guessing it was on some list of vowelless words.
- - - Though Y will happily stand in as a vowel if needed.
3. ufc 104 results (UFC Crap)

- - - Broadcaster Chris Spielman asked where Columbian driver Juan Pablo Montoya was on the list
- - - - Griese responded, “He’s out having a taco.”
- - - - - If that’s all it takes to get you in trouble, I certainly hope nobody ever hears Volcanicast
- - - - - - Griese apologized for the remark before the end of the broadcast
- - - - - - - I don’t know if anyone is actually offended
- - - - - - - - Certainly Montoya wasn’t
- - - - - - - - - But Griese got a one-game suspension from ESPN for it

- - - It has also been transplanted to Mexico, Hawaii, and even Florida.
- - It can grow over 60 feet high (20 meters, 0.004 leagues)
- - It is tropical, so it can handle long dry seasons but not cold.
- - Its fruit, a pulpy edible legume, is popular as a sour spice when the fruit is not yet ripe, or a jam when the fruit ripens.
- - - It’s also a natural laxative.
- - There are strains that can be eaten straight, though most strains are too acidic and sour to be enjoyable off the vine.
- Why now?
- - …I don’t know. Again.
- - - However, Based solely on the TV peaks I’m going to assume two groups of chefs had to compete on some TV show to make food with Tamarind as a main ingredient.

- Actually, it describes organisms that prefer or thrive at high barometric pressures

- - Generally found on ocean floors where pressures can exceed 380 atmospheres
- - - These are almost always single-celled organisms which have had to evolve novel mechanisms to deal with the pressure
- - - - Which can make normally fluid cell membranes to become waxy and impermeable to nutrients
- Why now?
- - WWTBAM
- - - For $100,000, Life on Earth, Which of these places is commonly home to life forms known as “barophiles”? A) Rain forest, B) Glacier, C) Deep sea, D) Desert

2. coconut crab (Amelia Earhart probably got eaten by them?)
1. vevo (WES)
- Joint venture of Google, YouTube, UMG, and Sony Entertainment.
- - It hopes to be “The Next Hulu”
- - - Which is good because there are rumors that Hulu is on the verge of tanking.
- - - - I’d hate to have to pay for TV shows again.
- - News articles tout the site’s upcoming music video services though, which frankly I don’t care squat about.
- - - Except to see Beyonce’s video, which is one of the best of all time.
- - - UMG may be hoping that this service, which will pay for itself with ads, will save the music business.
- - - - Good luck with that.
- Why now?
- - They announced that they’re hiring.
- - - 35 jobs were available.
- - - - So now Obama has created 1,000,035 jobs.

- - The idea was that the sinister influence of the moon caused the problem.
- Thanks possibly to Shakespeare, the term was ascribed first to malformed people and then just to mean a dumb person.
- Why now?
- - That mooncalf Bill O’Reilly featured the word on his show.

Explicit Warning if missed

I think I stopped editing right around the time I skyped in. Whatever, now the minimally edited show also has a minimally edited volcanipedia entry.
* http://www.crazynutso.com/volcanipedia/tiki-index.php?page=Week+Ending+October+30+2009
* Enjoy!
* Nice effects, eh?
I don’t think anybody will (or at least they shouldn’t) mind a minimally-edited show. The alternative will be an unedited show.
Here’s a minimally point-by-pointed reply to Volcanipedia:
* (Explicit Warning) I don’t remember saying that. Bach? I haven’t listened yet so maybe I’ll remember it when I hear it.
* I see what you did there. Dork.
* I lamented the potential death of Hulu. I’d happily pay $1 per each 2 hours of programming. And by hours I mean 45 minute blocks. And by 45 minutes I mean 42 minutes. I would also happily pay, say, $20/month for everything.
* I read in the news that catholic schoolboys give good head too. I believe the term is “headmaster”
* Sam has a secret Skype name? Wait, there’s something about Sam that you didn’t know?
* Yes, you should go to http://honotogroabemo.org and donate.
* I would pretty much honor anything by motorboating.
* I bemoaned nothing, nor was I dirty or particularly liberal. Well, I was liberal by the wacko right-wing conservative standards but that just makes me human.
* (Tangents) I have an idea for when December comes along. I keep forgetting about it so I’m going to say it here. I could post here whenever you put up a Tangentcast, and said Tangentcast will automagically go in the feed. I don’t know if people would like that, but we could do it anyway :)
That could possibly be the least-minimal point-by-point I’ve done. Hrm.
Hyperbole is fun. Especially in politics. For example, if one Republican gets elected to anything anywhere, it proves the American people are rejecting Obama’s ideals.
* As for the tangentcast idea, I suppose the average listener wouldn’t mind getting the tangents through that feed, as long as you don’t make them listen to them.
* You’d be surprised the random things that make people mad.
*Small boobies make me mad.
* Then you need to donate to Beards4Boobs!
Aha. I have heard the beginning of the show now and remember the context. It was more “botch” than “bach,” and it was a take-off on debauchery, which was transformed to debauch, which was further transformed into removing the bauch from someone. We of course then instantly thought that we should remove the bautch from Sam.
And to triple-post, I looked up Harrison Ford’s IMDB page and I was only half right. His first role WAS a bellhop, but it was NOT in The Graduate. It was in 1966’s Dead Heat on a Merry-Go-Round which is supposedly a comedy crime drama.
This is not nearly as interesting as would be Sam telling us about her debauchery.
>india vs australia live cricket streaming (Cricket crap)
Wow, I’m not the only one saying things that they wouldn’t were Sam present. OK, I’d probably still say them if she were here, but still…
* What happened to the bullet points?
Actually, ([thing, generally a sport] crap) is something new I tried and Sam’s presence or lack had nothing to do with it. I kind-of switched over to (it happened) but may waver back and forth depending on my given mood any day at 3:30am when the topics solidify. It may be hard for you to understand, but I am willing to incur any wrath Sam may bring forth.
* Sorry, Will, I don’t know what happened with the bullet points.
> Nor do I know about using alternate ones.
% But it could be fun to branch out.
! Good idea, Wes.
@ let’s see what symbols we can use for stupid sentences.
# or just to up the post count again.
$ What, no cent sign? Rip-off keyboard!
^ Dunno how you can cover that whole Ft Hood thingie without Sam.
& Wait, that happened on Shark Tank day, so no way it made the trends.
+ OK, I checked, and it did make the trends.
- But will anyone take it?
” The suspense is killing me.
( You will have to wait until the show is released!
) Well, you’ll at least have to wait until you’re editing it.
~ Or Skyped in.
I’ve also decided to school you chumps in ‘How NOT to Grow A Beard’.
* http://www.crazynutso.com/volcanipedia/MP3%20files/REALLY%20HoNoToGroAB.jpg
% Warning: Contains hi-rez picture of my ugly mug with my uglier beard.
* Not recomended for people with delicate stomaches or woman who are nursing.
^ Also, remind me to take it down before Sam gets back.
; not to mention that one nose hair.
` and all the other nose hairs
Yeah, it’s the nose hairs that really sells it. I gotta get me one o dem clippers.
~ You don’t need clippers
Ø Just yank them out
± It doesn’t hurt trust me.
¼ I like this.
