2. belmont stakes results (The expected winner won) - 14. the sandlot (SAM)
- A 1993 kids movie about a backyard sand lot that people played baseball in.
- Of course there is a HUGE dog that is the size of a battleship.
- And of course something dump happens that involves all the kids.
- It’s actually a cute good movie.
- There is this 6 year old that repeats all his brother’s sentences with the pretenst of yeah yeah.
- SO he is called yeah yeah.
- Why now?
- Yeah yeah plead not guilty for domestic battery in LA today.
- Couldn’t find too much info on it as most of the sites were banned from work.
- But I feel old that this kid is grown, married and now hitting things.
- 10. invisible touch lyrics (BOB)
- It’s time once again for Don’t Forget to Decant Your Aged Wine
- - The only volcanic lyric this week is Invisible Touch by Genesis, from the 1986 album of the same name
- - - How pathetic am I? I did that from memory.
- - - - There are better songs on the album, notably Land of Confusion and Domino
- - - - - But the pop hook is undeniable
- - Other trending lyrics:
- - - Rock and Roll All Night by Kiss
- - - Help Me Rhonda by the Beach Boys
- - - It’s Not Unusual by Tom Jones
- - Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any details on the actual show or contestant - 1. schroeder s cat (WES) I totally thought this was the cat and toast theary. -Sam 6/15/09 8:46 AM
- Schroeder is a Peanuts character.
- - He’s the one who plays the piano.
- - He does not own a cat, or at least it was never mentioned in the strips.
- Erwin Schrödinger is a famous quantum physicist.
- - He also did not own a cat, or at least it’s not mentioned in any of the articles on Schrödinger that I have ever read.
- - Schrödinger’s Cat though, is a famous thought experiment by him.
- - - Erwin, not the piano playing Peanuts character.
- - - It is also a friend of the show, but I’m not going to copy it.
- - - In the experiment, a cat is placed in a box with a vial of some deadly substance. A hammer is placed above the vial and hooked somehow to a geiger counter surrounding a single atom of some substance with a very small half-life.
- - - - Wait the half-life of the substance, and the cat is, according to quantum mathematics, both alive and dead, 50% of each.
- - - - When you open the box to observe the cat, the 50/50 dead/alive cat collapses into one state or another.
- - - This thought experiment has several issues, including the definition of “Observation” and the fact that most people who hear about it think it’s horrible that Schrödinger would do such a thing to that poor, imaginary cat.
- - - - The cat is immaterial. Death is immaterial. It could have been a paint gun shooting a bullet against the wall of the box.
- - - The critiques of the thought experiment notwithstanding, quantum entanglement is a very real phenomenon and there’s no way around that. Just because we are not smart enough, yet, to figure it all out doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
- Oh, why now?
- - I have no clue, but I’m going to guess based on the search term that whatever TV show it was on, it wasn’t written on the screen.

- - - Related topics don’t make any sense - 10. john kenney (SAM)

- So I totoally thought this was the Kenedy that killed the girl with a golf club in the 70’s…Martha something.
- It’s totally not.
- This is a deep sea fisher that was having troubles with his neighbours.
- After a boundry issue that went thru lawyers back and forth for over a year.

- Apparently, the cost to build the dome and maintain it is comparable to the cost to clean up all the environmental garbage the city goes through every year.
- - And after a few years it will save money.
- Why now?
- - It was on an episode of Mega Engineering on the Discovery Channel.
- - - They made no mention of what it would be like living in a giant greenhouse in Texas would be like.

- - - In particular, this is an adaptation of the original called DotA Allstars
- - - - Current lead developer goes by the name of IceFrog
- - - It’s been called the most popular free, non-supported game mod in the world
- - - - I’m assuming that means that Counter-Strike is supported
- - - - - Regardless, it has become a staple of the RTS world, earning a place in tournaments and influencing subsequent studio-developed games
- Why now?

- It is north of South Brother Island.
- Both are located in the East River between the Bronx and Rikers Island.
- We all know from Law and Order that Rikers Island is a bad prison to be in.
- I love the fact that when we don’t want to deal with people we exile them…ie to North Brother Island when Small pox broke out in the 1850s.

- Turned into a rehab house in the 1950s and closed in the 1960 due to staff corruption et.

- The body produces “memory cells” after it is infected with something.
- These cells have in the immune system contain the antibidies for a specific disease and remember what the disease looks like to spring into action if they see it again.

Volcanipedia entry for this show is up.
http://www.crazynutso.com/volcanipedia/tiki-index.php?page=Week+Ending+June+12+2009
Listen to the tangentials to hear Sam bitch about my editing. The nerve! Also to hear everyone except Sam belch. (I left Sam’s belch in the show, so she wouldn’t complain) Also I added the ‘how’ of Volcanicast to the front page at Volcanipedia. FUN! Also, how about that turn-around time? We had this bitch edited and posted less then 10 hrs after it was recorded! RAWK!
I have only one thing to reply to, so a point-by-point would be pointless, or I guess it would be nearly pointless, as it would have one point.
In any case, I was sure that Shroeder’s Cat [sic] would be the long topic of the day.
I was also sure that we have not had a category of long topic of the day up until now, so I am by no means certain I was expecting anything before I read that the Houston Dome was the long topic of the day.
I also think “long topic of the day” should be “long topic of the week.”
Is that 3 points? Oh my.
1. are you updating or something? I keep getting blank pages when I come here.
2. Long topic of the week would make more sense, but I’m not required to make sense.
3. Since Sam was BITCHING about me editing stuff out, I made a special effort not to edit stuff, so that might be why. In other words, as usual, it’s all Sam’s fault.
I was doing nothing, but the entire Internet was wonky for me right around the time I posted the show.
mmmmm that pic of Jessica Alba makes me happy, just like when Sam screams my name.
Uh, it’s usually Bob who screams your name. And what’s really creepy about that is it’s when he’s with Sean.
Also: Going back to JohnTV, from the last show, as I said, Bob did talk about it before. But it was from the show for the week ending July 4th, 2008, and thus has no show notes. Not that it matters, as I suspect Bob’s notes would have sucked, as the extent of his covering of the topic was bitching that prostitution should be legal and the johntv guy was an asshole for doing this. I think the johntv guy just doesn’t like the fact that they do their business in his neighborhood around children.
Haha!
In theory I could go back in Google Docs and get those notes. I doubt I will though.
In good news, we’re only a couple short weeks from an entire year without me fucking something major up.
I just went into Google Docs with the full intent of restoring the old revision.
Then I found I have to click “back” about 5-10 times per week.
Then I multiplied 5-10 by 50 weeks, and closed the window.
Great UI there, Google.
Well, yes you haven’t lost an entire show, but that might be because you’ve outsourced the editing. Of course, you could lose it before you outsource it, but that would take Bob-level clumsiness.
There’s a Bob level clumsiness?
as for this:
5. sidney greenbush (Star of Little House, may have murdered her husband?)
I hardly consider the actress who played half of ‘Carrie” (WHO? Laura’s lil’ sister, remember? She fell down the well that one time?) to be the Star, or even ‘a star’ of Little House. And every news post I saw says he committed suicide.
You have to understand several things:
1) I do the small parentheticals at 3:30am
2) I do them at work, usually while *gasp* working.
3) I spend no more than 10-15 seconds per topic, and usually much less.
4) I never look anywhere except on the trends page.
5) Their purpose is simply to aid in our drafting.
6) I leave them up because I’m too lazy to go back and delete them all.
7) Plus, sometimes I say something funny.
8) Like (R&B singer, pregnant with a lil’ Lil’ Wayne)
9) Okay, that wasn’t a knee-slapper or anything, but I refer you to points 1-3.
10) How many points can you have before you have to stop calling them “several”?
11) The question mark at the end suggested that I was unsure. Granted, at the time I was unsure of the last part and not the first part, but I take no shame in not knowing who was who in Little House on the Prairie.
